The National Cancer Research Institute Annual Cancer Conference | 6 – 9 November 2011 BT Convention Centre, Monarch's Quay, Liverpool
"Beauty and femininity : life modelling during and after cancer treatment" - artist Harriet Barber addressing The National Cancer Research Institute Annual Conference at the opening session on Sunday 6th November (15.30 – 16.30).
The NCRI selected Breast Cancer LIFE as one of 2 key visual exhibitions positioned in the BT Convention Centre’s vast Entrance Galleria on Liverpools Monarch’s Quay, alongside 6 remarkable Saving Faces canvases by National Portait Award winner Mark Gilbert.
Breast Cancer LIFE is an exhibition of 44 life studies in charcoal, pencil, pastels and oils by Slade-trained artist Harriet Barber and accompanied by two sculptures - Greta Berlin’s ‘Woman’ (a young singer/songwriter’s commission following diagnosis and surgery) and Jenny George’s porcelain ‘Red Boots in a Box’ (inspired by Harriet’s ‘Alison in Red Boots’).
PlushArt is grateful to the NCRI for the opportunity to exhibit in Liverpool – it is a tremendous accolade for the 'models', that their pictures will be viewed by some 1800 Conference delegates from the UK, Europe and beyond.
